A trail for three towns 🚶♀️🚲
Sunset Beach, Carolina Shores, and Calabash are teaming up on a joint pedestrian and bike trail — and all three town boards unanimously approved it in October.
The trail would run from Sunset Beach Town Park along Beach Drive SW, across the Calabash River bridge, through Calabash, and on to the Food Lion in Carolina Shores via Country Club Drive.
Each town is putting in $8,000 — $24,000 total — as the 20% local match for a state grant from NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division, which would cover 80% of a feasibility study. Separate state grants for each town’s portion were already approved in 2025.
Don’t lace up your walking shoes just yet — construction is still several years away, timed with NCDOT resurfacing work. But the three towns are officially moving together on it.
