🏛️ A court fight over one of Brunswick County’s biggest proposed developments is heating up. The 1,340-home Green Hill Planned Development near Winnabow — denied by county commissioners — is now headed to Superior Court after mediation with the developers ended without a settlement.
Developers HIC Land LLC and CLD Engineering say the denial was “arbitrary and unsupported by competent evidence,” and point out that county staff had actually recommended approval. Neighbors in Winnabow have pushed back over traffic, flooding, and EMS response concerns.
A judge already granted a writ of certiorari — meaning the court found enough to take a hard look at whether the denial was legal, including the role the planning board played.
