π§ Brunswick County is back in court over its biggest water project. The county has refiled its lawsuit over the $167.3 million Northwest Water Treatment Plant expansion β the project adding low-pressure reverse osmosis to strip PFAS (“forever chemicals”) from our drinking water.
The suit names contractor Oscar Renda Contracting and insurers Zurich American and Federal Insurance. The county first filed in July 2025; that case was dismissed without prejudice on Aug. 25, 2025 β and the county refiled in Aug. 2026, just one day before the one-year deadline to do so.
Why it matters for your wallet: this is the plant feeding the county’s water system, and the outcome of this fight affects what the expansion ultimately costs taxpayers.
