Brunswick County water conservation alert lifted

πŸ’§ Good news for Brunswick County water customers β€” the voluntary water conservation alert is officially lifted.

Brunswick County Public Utilities has rescinded its Stage 1 Voluntary Water Conservation Alert, effective Friday, Oct. 16. The county credits recent rainfall, improving drought conditions, and residents’ efforts to use water wisely for evening out demand on the system.

Some background: the alert was first issued Aug. 31, after a summer in which the county faced Extreme Drought (D3) and even Exceptional Drought (D4) conditions. The county thanked customers for following the mandatory and voluntary restrictions through that stretch.

A few things to know:

πŸ’§ This applies to customers on the county’s public water system. It does NOT apply to private groundwater wells, retention ponds, or Brunswick Regional–H2GO customers β€” H2GO customers should check h2gonc.gov for anything H2GO has issued.

πŸ’§ The county still encourages using water wisely, and it kept its recommended irrigation schedule in place: odd-numbered addresses are encouraged to irrigate Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights (8 p.m.–4 a.m.), and even-numbered addresses Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights (8 p.m.–4 a.m.).

πŸ’§ And a heads-up: if dry weather returns, another alert could follow β€” the county says it continues to monitor system levels.
