Hurricane Isaias heads for the Gulf Coast — no threat to our coast

🌀 Hurricane Isaias update — good news first: this one is NOT headed our way.

Isaias is in the southern Gulf this morning as a Category 1 with 75 mph winds, forecast to strengthen to near Category 3 before making landfall on the northern Gulf Coast late Friday or early Saturday.

The name might sound familiar — a different Isaias made landfall at Ocean Isle Beach in 2020.

No watches or warnings for our coast; the Carolinas are well clear of the track. If you’ve got family or travel plans along the Gulf Coast (Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle), check in — 5 to 7 feet of storm surge, heavy rain, and tornadoes are expected there.
