October 15, 1781 — Robeson County. 🇺🇸

Deep in the swamps between Red Springs and Shannon, 950 Patriot militiamen under Gen. Griffith Rutherford caught up with 600 Loyalists — and broke them.
Fighting alongside the Patriots: Lumbee fighters, defending their homeland.
British losses: 16 killed, 50 wounded, up to 20 captured. Patriot losses: ONE man.
It was one of the last fights of the Revolution in the Carolinas — the war was nearly over, but nobody in that swamp knew it yet.
A forgotten battle, in a forgotten swamp, won by people history almost forgot.
