April 29, 1781 β Bladen County. πΊπΈ

Lord Cornwallis had just spent two days in Elizabethtown, marching his army toward Wilmington. The Bladen militia had a parting gift.
When the British column moved out, militiamen shadowed it with scouts, then struck the rear guard and the Tory looters trailing behind β killing 13 and capturing 20.
Then they melted back toward the Bladen line before Cornwallis could respond.
No grand battle. Just local farmers hitting the most powerful army on earth and vanishing into the pines.
This is how the Revolution was really won in the Cape Fear country.
