Former Brunswick County sheriff’s sergeant indicted after state investigation

🚨 A former Brunswick County sheriff’s sergeant has been indicted after a state investigation. Timothy Michael McNichol turned himself in this morning after a Brunswick County grand jury indicted him on one count of misdemeanor breaking and entering and one count of willful failure to discharge duties, following an investigation by the NC State Bureau of Investigation. According to court records cited by Coastal Carolina News, the charges stem from a Feb. 16 incident at a home on Cherry Road in Boiling Spring Lakes, where McNichol allegedly entered the home unlawfully while attempting to serve a warrant. The Sheriff’s Office itself requested the SBI investigation back in April. McNichol was released on an unsecured $1,000 bond, with a court date set for Dec. 8. He is the second former Sheriff’s Office employee charged in October after a state investigation β€” former lieutenant Daniel Heith Little was indicted Oct. 5 on 18 counts tied to alleged misuse of the department’s Flock license-plate-reader cameras. As with any criminal case, the charges are allegations, and McNichol is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
