🏊♂️ Heads up, Southport: state officials have posted a swimming advisory at the public kayak launch in Cottage Creek (end of W. West Street). Water samples taken Oct 6–7 showed bacteria levels above the state’s safe-swimming limit.
This is NOT a beach closure — the advisory covers waters within 200 feet of the sign. The state will keep testing and pull the sign once levels drop. If you kayak or paddle there, best to keep the water out of your mouth and rinse off after. 💧
