🌳 Green light for Majestic Oaks Park! Sunset Beach Town Council has approved the site plan for the new 4.28-acre park on the island’s east end (between Cobia and 16th streets) β€” moving forward the $2 million waterfront tract the town bought back in 2022.

The plan includes a boardwalk, fishing pier, viewing platform, floating dock, and kayak launch on South Jinks Creek, plus restrooms, a bocce court, and a shaded picnic area. The landmark live oak and the wetlands are being preserved.

Council tabled the plan in September over a parking-lot fight β€” 33 spaces on the drawing vs. 16 in an earlier version β€” but this week’s vote moves the park to construction drawings. Funding includes a $500,000 state PARTF grant matched dollar-for-dollar by the town.
